What Can You Expect During a Mobile Session?

Before we start taking photographs, we’ll identify a space that works.
A medium-sized conference room or a large lobby can often provide enough room for the mobile studio setup.
The important thing isn’t whether the space looks like a photography studio. It’s whether we have enough room to create the lighting and background we need.
We choose a background
Different professions and personal brands call for different looks.
A traditional studio headshot with a consistent background can create a clean, polished appearance that’s particularly useful for teams and professional organizations. There are also a variety of background colors to choose from, so we can find something that fits your needs.
If a studio background isn’t what you’re after, there’s another option: a lifestyle portrait photographed in your actual environment.
Sometimes the best setting for a professional portrait is the place where you actually work.
Professional lighting does the heavy lifting
Lighting is one of the biggest differences between a quick snapshot and a professional portrait.
For a mobile studio session, I bring the lighting with me. That means we aren’t dependent on whatever overhead fluorescent lights happen to be in the conference room.
The goal is flattering, natural-looking light that keeps the attention where it belongs: on you.
You don’t need to know how to pose
This is probably one of the biggest concerns people have before a headshot session.
“What am I supposed to do?”
You don’t need to come in knowing how to pose.
Part of my job is creating a comfortable environment and guiding you through the process. I use natural or soft lighting and lenses that are flattering to help create a relaxed, vibrant portrait.
And honestly, some of the best photographs happen once you stop worrying about having your photograph taken.
The session doesn’t take all day
A standard one-person mobile studio session is 45 minutes, including an online gallery and one professionally retouched headshot.
For an individual, that makes updating your professional image much easier to fit into a workday.
For organizations, bringing the studio to the office can also make coordinating headshots for multiple people much more practical. Additional people can be added to a session, and special group rates are available for organizations needing ten or more headshots.
What Happens After the Session?
Once you’ve chosen your favorite image, professional retouching is available to make sure the finished photograph still looks like you, just on a really good day.
Retouching can include things like color adjustments, facial glare, stray hairs, skin blemishes, teeth whitening, lightening the area around the eyes, and minor wrinkles.
The goal isn’t to turn you into someone else. It’s to create a polished version of the person who actually showed up for the photograph.
Mobile Studio vs. Coming to the Baltimore Studio
There’s no single right way to have a professional headshot taken.
If you enjoy the idea of a traditional studio environment, appointments are available at my Baltimore studio, where you can choose from available backdrops and have a dedicated 45-minute session.
But if getting to a studio is the part that’s holding you back, the mobile option may be a better fit.
