Maryland tourism industry and professional photography go hand-in-hand
It’s always a pleasure to provide photography for every sector of the tourism and travel industry in our area. No matter what time of year it is, there’s always something going on, and all of it can benefit from having a professional photographer on hand. Between corporate events like team celebrations and get-togethers to locally-sponsored events like fundraisers, the regional tourism and hospitality industries are busy with fantastic occasions that put the spotlight on Maryland’s resources.
It’s safe to say that the economy and communities across the whole state benefit greatly. As a photojournalist, I’m always ready to create images that tell the story of our area and the people who, like me, are proud to work here. There is so much to capture, and when it comes to local commerce, there’s no shortage of ways to promote that with timely, professional photography.
This year’s National Travel & Tourism Week (NTTW) is one of my favorite ways to join forces with all of the great organizations that provide service to our area. Maryland Tourism Coalition’s annual celebration is happening right now and you don’t want to miss it.
May 7-13, 2023 marks Maryland’s 40th year celebrating the essential role of travel and tourism
First begun in 1983, National Travel & Tourism Week (NTTW) is a yearly tradition to spotlight the travel industry’s role in stimulating economic growth, cultivating vibrant communities, creating quality job opportunities, stimulating business activity, and elevating the quality of life for everyday Americans The Maryland Tourism Coalition (MTC) works together with partners from around the state to celebrate this special week with promotions, activities and events.
This year’s theme is #TravelForward. For further details, read the full press release from the MARYLAND TOURISM COALITION INC here: https://lnkd.in/gfPrXPR8
I’m the official photographer for the sold-out Regional Industry Meet Up event May 11th from 4-6 PM at the 1817 Restaurant at the Guinness Open Gate Brewery. This event is hosted by the Maryland Tourism Coalition and includes industry partners like Visit Baltimore, Visit Annapolis & Anne Arundel County, Visit Howard County Maryland, and Enjoy Baltimore County Maryland. Stay tuned to read about it a future blog post!
Photojournalism and events around Baltimore and Annapolis
Documenting these types of occasions with images that that last forever is a valuable piece of your marketing strategy and for print publications around the area. It serves so many purposes — and for me, part of the fun is catching the energy of the event itself! It’s easy to find a multitude of ways for businesses to put professional, high-resolution event photos across all types of media for generating interest, spreading awareness, and showing off what makes your organization so noteworthy.
Let’s take a look back at a fantastic example: the Maryland Tourism Coalition’s annual Pride of Baltimore II fundraiser in April ’22 was a thoroughly memorable event, and you can see why it’s so fun to create the visual storytelling with a photojournalistic viewpoint. You can read a lot more about the event in my blog right here.

Here, we glance back at last year’s event with Visit Baltimore, where I captured images from their fantastic and free networking event in partnership with Watermark Cruises. You can read more about it in my blog here.
